the scoop:

chick marries dude at 17.  ten days later, they split bc dude falls in love with her mom.  chick is bridesmaid at mom and ex’s wedding.  (mom wore musical thong that played ‘here comes the bride’)

chick is all ready to marry another dude, but he ditches last minute.  chick’s friend steps in and she marries him instead.  chick was 8 months prego with a baby who could be ex-fiance’s, friend’s, or friend’s brother.

chick marries dude.  dude is already married.  whoops.

chick gets married yesterday.  no updates so far.

so i haven’t really been all that busy (though i should have been), i’ve just been lazy and haven’t posted.  to be honest, i tried to post once, but it didn’t publish and i didn’t feel like re-writing the entire post.  oh well.

the scoop:

’seedy’ gonzales made a living from selling sperm (mannotincluded.com) on the tubes.  to lesbians, specifically.  somehow, this perfectly pristine business got into some shit with the gov’t and has been shut down.  sorry ladies… now you have to get your sperm for free, like the rest of the world (after a sloppy bar night…).

the law school and med school have an annual dance called the malpractice ball.  i think the name is really cute.

this dance is affectionately (or something) called law prom, and the name suits the event, if we’d had alcohol at prom.  besides the pretty dresses, suits and barrage of pictures, i felt obviously single.  out of a dinner party of about 15, only 3 of us were single.  it’s crazy how *everyone* is taken nowadays!

besides that, it was quite funny to see the difference between the law students and med students.  while both groups were drinking heavily from the open bars, the med students tended to stay on the fringes and keep some sort of composure.  law students, on the other hand, get sloppy when drinking.  i saw no fewer than 4 girls splat on the floor.  i saw a couple of others clinging to the wall.  one chick was ‘dancing’ with my friend aaron.  i say ‘dancing’ because it was more like he was dancing/holding her up and she was just kind of grinding away at him.  pretty damn hilarious.

i had hoped to find some hot, single med student, but no luck.  it really didn’t help that i couldn’t drink and therefore was one of maybe 3 sober people at the ball.  i did get a sweet new dress for the occasion, so there’s a plus. 

it takes a lot to make me tear up. these do just that. it’s amazing how you can miss a country you barely remember. home is home, i guess.

musica ligera by soda stereo is one of my all time favorite songs.  for whatever reason i’d never been able to find/download the non-live version, so today was the first time i heard the original.  i love it just as much.

i first came across this song in caracas in 1998.  there were apartment buildings overlooking our school’s soccer field and one guy - a fat guy who didn’t often wear a shirt - would play this song and blare it out over the field every day we had soccer practice (or maybe every day and i just wasn’t there on the weekends).  he’d play other songs too, but this one was played daily.

this song has been on every mp3 player i’ve had since then.  it had been on every computer until this one, but i don’t download music onto it (yet, i’ve been thinking about fucking it up totally).

listen, please do.  i’d love for everyone to hear this song.  i don’t even want to describe it, so you can grow into it, kind of like i did the first time i heard it, all the while asking around to see if anyone else knew the name/band.

the scoop:

although most of us make fun of emo kids, those darn mexicans believe in go big or go home.  so instead of just hatin’ and making fun (i wish my lawn were emo… then it’d cut itself), they organize.  the rockabillies and punks in some mexican city or other have gotten together into anti-emo riots where they apparently beat the crap out of emo kids.  emo kids have retaliated by pro-emo demonstrations.  bring out the eyeliner, i’m going in…

if you watch the vid, you’ll notice that all sorts of music genres try to get in on the story, including the hare krishnas.  yay diversity!

you know exactly what i’m talking about.  there are some things you find hilarious, but are so terrible that it makes you cringe (either at said thing or at the fact that you’re laughing about it.

this is the thing that was enough of a laugh/cringe to make the blog.  turn up your volume.
